Client: Los Angeles Office of Homeland Security and Public Safety
Beacon was part of a team that developed a Mass Care and Shelter plan for the Los Angeles area; Beacon had responsibility for developing the MCS Plan for the City of Whittier. The planning process involved conducting community meetings and interviews with internal city stakeholders (various divisions of the City, including fire, police and public safety) and external stakeholders, including hospitals, school districts, colleges, Red Cross and other CBOs to assess and inventory the City’s resources and assets and to gauge the level of preparedness in the event of a disaster. The planning process led to creation of a useable, city specific plan that can be implemented without outside help within the first 72 hrs.
